Surpassing History Empty Surpassing History

Look upon what we have wrought here

The course grain and crumbling stone of the arena felt depressing in its tranquil silence. Ages ago, the monumental stage had catalyzed the waking of the world itself, giving rise to grand kingdoms and legends, enacting the wills of champions and gods into the hearts and minds of history. It shaped those it hosted as much as they shaped its structure, the gashes and craters in its walls were greater trophies than anything ever forged in gold and silver. Now, it lies empty in a forgotten corner of the world, every passing moon leaving it further in a dark recess of the modern mind. Only the whispers of the wind give it life. A considerate listener might hear the echoes of cheering and rallying cries from centuries ago.

Xixas Averall, the ghost of steppes, placed his feet onto the crusted sand with a chip on his shoulder. Look what has to happen to us, you sad, ignorant students of mine. "Friends, welcome to the Coliseum. Here, I accept the challenge of fools who risk the fate of our history and its people. Come at me, and let us see how much you have learned since the days of the classroom." With a strain of the muscles, Xixas activated Xycroxis. His raw magical output dropped a half rank, but his movement speed and agility rose the same amount. He unlimbered the scimitar from his back, the wrappings sinking to the earth of their own accord. He kept the blade in a practiced grip as two figures from the hallways approached his space-- and their moment of history.

Surpassing History Empty Re: Surpassing History

Zechs stepped into the arena, his hand resting on the hilt of a blade that has long forgotten the sense of battle. He himself felt similarly, having not raised himself to the fires of combat in what felt like a lifetime.

He hadn’t spared a glance to his partner, much less a word, nor was he willing to return one to his opponents. His expression remained as still as it ever was, composed and collected. The ring of his sword being drawn filled the silence, and displayed his resolve in his word’s stead.

In the same moment, frost burst from his body, swirling around him rapidly and obscuring his appearance, the cracks of ice clashing against each other sounded as the frost hardened, taking shape as four massive shields. Hovering around him with precise movements, he took his stance next to his former friend.

Temarius Alpharion Ranna. Designation of the filth of Heaven - a dirty shadow that leaps from behind the walls of the crumbling theater. The mud that casts itself onto the forgotten, silhouetted scythe in hand, his palm meeting the sandy ash of a pathetic history. It is a weak soil, shifting to the buckling force of his landing as small plumes of dust and dirt erupt from the fall.

"How droll." the Fallen spits, perhaps addressing the ground itself rather than the frigid boy ahead. He is knelt beside the hollow man. "One way or another, this history will wilt and scatter to dust. The vessels of these corpses hardly interest me."

Standing to full height, Temran casts the corner of his gaze to the Sicarian by his side. What I want is to measure you, Xixas Averall.

The Fallen raises his arms and swings his scythe, the pitch blade gouging deep into the earth, almost as a crude warning to his enemies. Dust geysers up from the force of his motion, and as it settles into a grey plume, the painted man walks forward. The black wound inflicted on the world is hidden beneath the veil of his shadow.

"I'll do my best to leave the bodies recognizable. Even a man such as yourself ought to be capable of remembering their faces, at least."

Surpassing History Empty Re: Surpassing History

Basking in the silent limelight Sumaru stared at the empty stand that once filled thousands of fans. They would come to see a fight and although no one was there he planned to deliver. Forcing Galatine to materialize in his hand for what could very well be the last time he stood next to his friend not as enemies or as students but as true equals.

"You two talk too much." Entering his shadow form it was as if the light around him dispersed in a hurry, afraid of what was to come. 4 titans stood in the arena all radiating unbelievable energy and yet something felt off. Sumaru knew that win or lose this would be the last time he stood among these people.

Smirking he did something unexpected. He pierced both of his feet with Galatine going up half a rank as Pain Packer became active. Being numb to the pain from doing this for far too long he began to feel lighter on his feet despite them bleeding. He dashed forward coating Galatine in his shadows ready for whatever was to come.

"Do as you wish to them" coiling his body, the Rogue imparted the words like payment to the butcher. "For they are no kin of mine, not anymore." As the youngest of his charge threw himself into the fire, the blacksmith would meet him head on, and forge him into something regal. Should the boy fail this test, he would break and crumble, as Xixas knew he would. He could only die here and find a new self in this time of heralded beginnings.

Xixas tensed his muscles, reaching another height of speed in exchange for magical force and launched himself at the pale creature. He fired a sterling bolt through the air, aimed at the left flank of his opponent. With the sword held in his right, he let loose a low horizontal slash aimed at the knees, as he met him, his own body held low. With this slash, four feet of phantom energy slashed as an extension of it, the ghost assault invisible to the naked eye.

Zechs was taken back by the young man's rash movements, though he hadn't missed a beat and sprinted himself to close the distance as best he could, ahead of himself he sent three of his shields to track themselves behind Sumaru.
Their size doubled his own body, their angle at a vertical slant, tilted to cover his sides and front as he approached.

The third shield, however, aimed itself at Xixas, barreling from above Sumaru at ramming speed alongside his charge.

With two shields centered to Zechs, he crafted a rigid claw of ice along his arm, and launched it forward at the other opponent of theirs, its open maw honing in toward him with serpentine movements, placing himself nearby Sumaru still to keep his attention split.

His eyes following the Sicarian, Temran approaching by his side, two steps behind his bolstered pace. The Fallen ran a distance away from the collision at the center of the coliseum, his path arcing from Xixas' as he sprinted to meet the silvered foe head on. As he moved, he lowered the shaft of his nightshade weapon, dropping the scythe down to a level where the top of his hand met the dull bottom of a curved blade. Like a sickle, he held the weapon, firm in his grasp.

Unhindered by the burden of inhuman speed, the two would clash moments behind their allies. In the instant before that, the full breadth of Temran's wider field of view caught both Renaurd and his wayward shields of ice. Temran would find his target a mere half-beat after Xixas clashed with his.

Right as Zechs moved to strike, Temran's arm flung out to the side, throwing his weapon towards the Sicarian with enough force to send the shadow spinning. A weightless weapon that beckoned to even the smallest force, attached to his arm by a single chord of shadow that embedded itself into the Fallen's flesh like a branch of foreign veins.

In practically the same motion, Temran spun on his heel, turning his left side and shoulder to face the incoming attack. He raised his free arm, and enveloped it in a layer of serrated shadow, from the palm to the elbow. Armor against armor. The weightless plating congealed around his flesh like ink, yet, as he thrust out his arm to push aside the forthcoming claw, shadow met ice like steel striking against stone.

The twin-bladed scythe spiraled towards the Sicarian, in the same instant that his own blade was swung towards the vampire's knee. Moments before it severed him in two, the chord coiled like a serpent, sporadic tension striking at the tether. The blade's trajectory altered, it twisted and lashed like a whip, arching around the regent's back and then once again springing upwards to strike the shield of ice with its full momentum. Such an attack hardly even cracked the ice - only chipping away at its sturdy surface - yet the sudden, serpentine force of its motion was enough to knock the projectile aside, seeping darkness into its crystalline surface like pooling blood.

The twin blades of the dark scythe had lost their speed, yet they now descended down on the vampire child like a swift guillotine.

Regretting his decision to push forward he realized the trouble he was in. Thankfully Xixas' partner threw a scythe and gave him a way out. Before Xixas' Scimitar could make contact with his knee Sumaru used shadow lurk. He sinked into the shadow of the scythe as it whizzed by. The moment Xixas' attack went through he popped out in front of him and initiated Shadow Combo 1. Generating an immense amount of shadows into his fist he went for an uppercut on Xixas.

Surpassing History Empty Re: Surpassing History

Painted blotches of black magic splattered into view. Droplets of ink stained the floor in a caricature of a man submerged in the abyss, readying a timely emergence. When Sumaru leapt from the shadows, Xixas found himself instinctively leaning forward to meet the assault. He dropped the scimitar without a moment's hesitation. His senses warmed to the advancing movement, the feeling of familiarity kept his body coiled and steady as plates of steel wrapped onto his hands like fitted gloves. The intimacy of the assault burned with nostalgia, something seen a thousand times and felt a thousand more, offering promise of fulfillment in the steady course of the dance's rising tempo.

Xis surged the ghost's body, stripping him of his resistance to the magickal in exchange for further infusing of raw speed. He reached his right to catch the fist with his enhanced movement, allowing the unyielding nature of their grasp to guard against the attack. With his left, Xixas threw his might into a punch aimed up at the man's chin, the ridged steel gloves empowering the force.

Concurrently, the Sicarian infused the attack with a reversal of gravity. Should the punch land, it would send his adversary falling upward for a short time with the force equivalent to both gravity and his own strength.

--

Xixas has reached 2 full ranks in speed, the maximum speed level possible, thus giving him half a rank up in physical strength

Xixas has -1 in Magic and a half rank down in magic resistance

The wargloves give his hands a full rank in both defenses as well as the ability to grab magic, and half received momentum

The gravity reversal lasts until the end of the same post it is received
