"This way, please" spoke the disembodied voice. A veil of mist twirled and swirled around the bridge, snaking throughout the natural haze like a living serpent. Two men followed the sound of her voice, using her echos as a lifeline across the mass of coral rock that made up the expansive, natural pathway over the water below. Surrounding them from all sides like a basin roared a collection of waterfalls, each of them crashing into pools of glistening waters shaded between coral pink and lilac purple. "Make sure your skin doesn't touch ground, you two" Brielle instructed them from afar, a tone of whimsical pleasure in her voice that she had carried all the way through Coeura. "The coral rock here never dries out and as such, has a rough texture not unlike razors."

The mistress of the rain danced beyond the reach of the men's voices, welcoming the crisp, cold, wet atmosphere. Had they tried to speak, it might come off muffled considering the thickness of the permeating fog. She zipped back to her companions, beginning to take upon a humanoid-shaped outline. A loveliness of raindrops converged together and quickly created a woman's form. The light refracted and shaped itself into her skin, her face, her clothing, and the rest of the Vaium's preferred appearance.

She stepped up to the edge of the coral bridge and leered downward, inspecting the height.

"Cedric, Zechs, please come here for a moment" the request came paired with a little hand gesture, beckoning them towards her. Thankfully, the grip of the coral bridge acted as a natural protection against falling as it gripped onto footwear. "Look down here, at that crater" and she pointed directly down from where she stood. "This landmark shows us getting close to our destination. In case we get separated, please memorize its appearance and location and we'll meet up here in that case."

Post by Zechs Wed Apr 10, 2019 7:02 pm

The clashing sounds of the water against the iridescent rocks wedged Zechs between the crashing noise, but not enough to drown out the other two, following along without issue. The stated danger of the inlet hadn't taken away from its captivating sights, but it kept his cautionary demeanor without falter while he stepped to the edge, the echoing mention of separation tensing his mind.
“Seems we can't escape our luck completely, Cedric.” His voice fell with a sigh, pulling his sleeves down as he approached.

Looking over slowly, he noted the crater, which seemed remarkable enough to stand out, though nothing here was anything he had seen before regardless. Still, he returned along the coral path from the edge, having gotten used to the sturdy foundation it gave despite its frail appearance.
“Our destination, huh...” His words escaped under his breath, but continuing aloud. “Would I be right to say, then, that we've nearly arrived?”

Post by Cedric Wed Apr 10, 2019 7:30 pm

With a grimace, Cedric chewed through the pain to give a response. "I thank you, Brielle."

It felt like gnawing on nettle, as his eye throbbed beneath its patch. He'd donned his badge once more after they'd come to this strange area, as he felt bare without it. On one hand, he was glad that it hid the spider-webbing of veins that would pulse with a rotted, festering black and blue. On the other, he wished fervently he didn't need it. It wasn't that he missed his eye. It was that the curse it'd left made him feel like a bastard, especially as their third party member deserved much more gratitude for rescuing them from the blight that had stricken his king.

"Right. Ground no touchy." Stars and stones, it was almost like they were doomed to balance on blades at this point. The headache from his head throbbing wasn't aided by how carefully the Seraph had to balance to follow as close as he'd like. "Please say we're almost here. Please."

Then again, he'd always had to make his own clouds. Begging the sky never helped, even if Brielle was a blessing.

Damned coral. Can't be easy, can it? Ugh.

"Yes, we are right at the doorstep" Brielle replied, answering both queries with one response of her own. The cacophony of thunderous torrents thrummed in her ears as they walked, acting as the perfect curtain to mask any other source of noise like a bubble. Brielle kept her back to Zechs and to Cedric as they strode along the bridge.

Beneath them, several large craters formed like thin vases, carved into the coral and earth hills. They shaped tunnels leading into various large pools of liquid mystery of varying currents, tides, shades, and pigments. Without even needing to look below, she could feel the push and pull of magic below.

"In fact!" she announced, her body beginning to shimmer within itself like a rock thrown into a pond. Slowly, her body lost its light refraction, leaving her body a pure water. Brielle turned to face the two, a smile now on her face that could only be described as affectionate.

A noise like thunder shattered the outlying noise barrier, sending waves of force around the bridge. In a single flicker of time, less than a heartbeat, a titanic deluge of water arched over the bridge like a tidal wave, only mere feet away from the two men and their guide. It careened over them, its size easily encompassing everything within the surrounding acres of land. Everything around them now met the face of a flash flood.

"It's all down hill from here!" she chimed, and the wave crashed onto the bridge at a pace beyond any possible reaction.

It smashed against the world, jarring the bridge itself. It tunneled itself unnaturally, siphoning everything within the flood into the craters below with pin perfect accuracy with a roaring, stammering cascade.

Despite its apparent violence, the flood was strangely gentle.

Rejuvenation and Restoration Empty Re: Rejuvenation and Restoration

Post by Zechs Wed Apr 10, 2019 9:15 pm

The spiraling water released him to the solid ground soon after resigning himself to them, and the sensation jolted his body's control back to his own, stammering to stay on his feet for a moment of disorientation.
The weight of his drenched clothes pulled down on him as he stood, the drips of water falling into the shallow layer of water around them.
The surface of himself began to crystallize, the edges on his clothes to the tips of hair adorned in a thin layer of ice, breaking off into the water as he moved.

Taking in his immediate surroundings, he looked up from where they fell, and back to where he was after regaining himself. “The crater?” He spoke, breath still returning. Also noticing no one else around him, there was only a light that greeted him from a tunnel, and without a missed second, he began to wade through it, calling Cedric and Brielle's name with no immediate response.

The light bloomed around him as he entered, needing adjustment before anything could be seen. Immediately, he saw the blue light of the sky above him that loomed over the massive room before him, but the mirrored image was cast from oddly woven crystals that adopted its vibrant color. The pools of water that surrounded him sat in differing colors, bathing the air around him in varying temperatures. Curiosity sat at the forefront of his thoughts, but above it, the setting realization of separation.

Rejuvenation and Restoration Empty Re: Rejuvenation and Restoration

Post by Cedric Thu Apr 11, 2019 7:16 am

In a moment of panic, Cedric almost used his wings to escape what he thought were violent floods. Before fear could entirely grip him, reason calmed him down. The water was as gentle as the woman's smile. Electricity and water do NOT mix..

What felt like an eternity lead to Cedric landing in thigh-deep water, the tide caressing him into a gentle touchdown. Stifling his urge to panic, the Seraph did a slow turnaround. The room was barely lit, light filtering from a small tunnel. He was, to his alarm, alone. Brielle and Zechs were nowhere in sight- at least that he was aware. Alright, just breathe. Twice he called their names, his voice echoing in the chamber before muffling into silence.

Chewing the inside of his cheek, he thought carefully about his actions. He didn't know where he was, nor where his King was. Brielle had ushered them into this... Cavern, without any regard to their safety; at least as far as he was aware. However, Ced was absolutely unscathed. He could only assume the same would be true for his comrades.

Wading forward, he stubbornly trudged through the tunnel. The further he went, the more he had to squint as the light caused need for his eye to adjust.

An enormous... Aquifer? Cavern? Something along those lines, loomed before him. If he didn't know better, he would've thought that he'd gone through an exit- but the lack of true winds made sure to squash that line of thought. Thousands of crystalline formations bridged and webbed over the ceiling. Refractions of refractions bounced and wove, the colors intermingling in an almost dizzying array.

What troubled him most was that the area was absolutely huge. He was hard pressed to see the other side, the walls seemingly stretching around him in a way to go past his mind's ability. The urge to leap, to spread his wings and search hit him- but something told him to wait.

"Zechs!? Brielle!?"

The lack of anyone near him only put the Seraph on edge.

Rejuvenation and Restoration Empty Re: Rejuvenation and Restoration

Post by Exposition Sun Apr 14, 2019 1:31 am

A pocket of warmth enveloped the titanic underground chamber, its ceiling laden with crystalline sheets of sky blue gems that emulated the lower heavens. The surface was composed of expansive pools of liquid, each one its own shade of lilac or lily.

Emerging into this area, one would immediately notice a small peninsula of soil and grass about fifty feet in diameter within the center. Around the edges, a ring of short, thick-stumped trees with circular leaves not unlike perennials. Each of their branches hung low, with large purple berries weighing them down towards the floor.

Dominating the center of this ring stood a cabin, clearly shaped of the odd trees' wood and decorated with its branches and leaves, looking worn in some places and new in others.

Just beyond the shore of the island, within the nearest pool, there was a person. A dark skinned woman lounged within the water, leaning against the bank with both of her elbows pushed into the dirt behind her. She was tall, thin, and long limbed with sinewy muscles sculpting forearms and torso. Her hair was as black as the moonless night, tied into a bun while she bathed. Her gown was low laced, designed to act more like a body curtain than clothing, enunciating her shape and curves. She shifted her body to her right as she soaked to glance behind her. Towards the cabin.

After a few seconds, the leaflet acting as a makeshift doorway ruffled. Another woman snuck through, timidly. In complete contrast to her companion, this new woman was short and strikingly pale. At first glance, her skin was so drained of color that she was nearly as white as snow. She lacked the powerful build of the other woman and hunched over.

Around her head and nestled in her mouth was a gray bandana. It covered the lower section of her mouth like a sash. She was dressed in the same clothing as the first woman, the silk barely acting as clothing at all. On her back was a tuft of red and white cotton, six of them running down each side of her back. They were as small as a hand's palm.

A lazy gesture from the taller woman sent the pale girl into motion, practiced yet begrudging. She moved cautiously, but never hesitated. A short exchange of words and the girl dropped to her knees above the dark skinned woman and began kneading her little hands into the woman's shoulders.

The relationship would be clear to any man or woman savvy to the workings of civilization. The sash indicated servitude of the highest degree-- a concubine's sash-- fully imbued with its charms and spells that influenced the wearer. The red and white cotton orbs on the girl's back were wing buds, taking their form to regrow after having been removed and stained with the hosts's lifeblood.

Here, the two women seemed right at home, in some ways.

Rejuvenation and Restoration Empty Re: Rejuvenation and Restoration

Post by Zechs Thu Apr 18, 2019 6:51 am

Zechs's eyes met the strange cabin staring at him from the center, resting a feeling of unease on his perception and jolting his caution. For every few steps he took toward it, he broke his gaze to take in his surroundings, looking for Cedric or Brielle, yet nothing else greeted him but the cabin.

From where he approached, no sign of activity showed itself, so his steps gradually became loose and forward. Walking alongside the walls, he turned the corner to see the other side of the grotto he was in, vast and extending beyond his line of sight.
He wanted to speak out, but the tugging sights around him stopped the thought by the invading new ones.

Getting to the door of the cabin, he stopped just before it. He scanned around the seemingly normal lodge, nothing striking him as odd, spare its location. However, sounds from behind him reached his attention, faint rustling that powered over the complete silence beforehand. Without saying or making a sound himself, he looked back from where he stood, trying to see beyond the brush to no avail.

Wading further, his impatience got the best of him. Running his hands over the walls, Cedric looked for something, anything that would give him purchase to climb up over the water. After a few failed attempts, the Seraph finally stood a foot over the water, turning his head left and right. It wasn't that he didn't have control over his wings, but more so that he didn't want to take a chance.

As they shimmered into sight, the thunderclouds that formed his six limbs flared open- taking his weight as he pushed away from The Herald.

Of course, at his new vantage point- he saw what he previously thought was a smudge as a cabin. Foliage and unknown limbs made its fortifications, giving it a mysterious air. Of course, when he saw that, he also saw movement coming from nearby- causing him to stray as close to the ceiling of the cavern as he dared.

Ahh... But...

From his vantage, he also locked eyes upon two unfamiliar figures. From the feeling his eye pulsed with as he was preparing to call out an apology, his mouth clamped shut.

I guess that's not going to be my job, then.

Swooping as low and quiet to the source of the previous movement, Cedric lightly touched ground five pacs away from the snowy-haired king. His hands would have to be bandaged later from the mishaps, but he thanked the gods that was the only price he pad to reunite. So far...

"Zechs, be as quiet as you can. I've no idea if they saw me or not, but there are two aside from us here. Unknown faces, and I could say with mostly fair confidence they're of the fairer sex. I tried to call out but..."

With a grimace, he awaited any order or agreement.

Rejuvenation and Restoration Empty Re: Rejuvenation and Restoration

Post by Exposition Fri May 10, 2019 7:08 pm

A whimper rung out through the cavern, one not of pain but one reminiscent of the fear of a caged animal. However, its origin was not of any creature, but the cry came from air. A reverberated creak of magic as it twisted and conformed; a congealing weave of liquid silk. The magic was compressed so heavily, it became visible to the naked eye. It formed a bubble some ten feet in the air, between the king and his companion, and the two women.

An impossibility came to pass; a period of time and occurrence that never should have become reality. Two stars falling through the night, normally years apart, come crashing together with the fierceness of a fervent nova. This happened here, now, at the feet of a dying king, a worried retainer, and a mentally broken slave and her master.

The bubble popped, its contents dropping into the water in a flutter of cobalt and ashen gray.

-

"Ahh.. ahh okay. Good, now. Good. That was definitely, undeniably worth the cost"

A person emerged from the water, their voice echoing out. At the same time, the congealed magic dissipated in every direction away from them, as if fearful of the new arrival. It was a man, shirtless, but clearly human and one of average height. His skin was lush with color, slightly tan, and laced with numerous runes and glyphs of cobalt blue ink. He had no hair on his head, but was incredibly muscular. He wore baggy black leggings, tied at the waist by a blue sash and the rest of his clothing sat in a jumbled ball at the bottom of the shallow water.

A long tattoo stretched down his chest and torso, seemingly down his legs, and after a small breach of skin on his stomach, continued up along his arms, shoulders, and even over his face. It arched out like thin branches.

Most identifiable of all, however, was the metal medallion that was inside his chest. It was located just below his neckline, the badge palm-sized and made of gold. The flesh of his body seemed to grow around it, as if holding it into his body. The medallion was a miniature mirror of his massive full-body tattoo-- the mark of the Church of the Outcast's highest denomination.

To informed men like Zechs Renaurd and Cedric Vael, this decoration was easily recognized. The man was no priest, but a soldier. A direct attendant to the mythological devil himself, Exsolus Deimori.

"I seem to have dropped in at just the right time. You're just the connection I needed to see, your majesty" Excul's knight announced to the king, his light brown eyes meeting Zechs' own.

He lowered his head-- not a bow, but a nod of something resembling respect..? Acknowledgment, perhaps.

Connection?

Zechs was relieved to see Cedric again, giving a nod to him without a word yet, focusing on the new arrival to the area, or perhaps he was always there, he had no bearing on the situation yet. He noted the two people beyond them Cedric mentioned, but couldn't do much about them yet.

The presence of the man confused Zechs, especially from his status, but so did many things at the moment. “And who are you?” He asked, never minding the circumstances. Before anything else happened, Zechs wanted answers. “Allow me to be the first to ask, what is your business with me?”

He let his voice raise to a strong tone, for the purpose of garnering the other two's attention without addressing them, yet. Hostile or not, he wanted no surprises. Brielle was nowhere yet, but if Cedric had also been here, then she might still be in the area. Even still, all players needed to be present, a risk he was willing to take.

The authority in Zechs's voice led Cedric to take his place a step behind and to the right of the king. His eye darted between the dressings of the man, taking in the marks as well as the sigil upon his chest. Keeping his chest angled to where his body was in line with both the women and the stranger, the Seraph narrowed his eye.

Brielle couldn't have known, right? I can't help but feel something amiss between the women and this man, however. Not to mention the sheer change around is when he appeared...

Rejuvenation and Restoration Empty Re: Rejuvenation and Restoration

Post by Exposition Sat Jun 08, 2019 9:26 pm

Crushed and split open. Blythe, she once called herself, slid her hands up and down her forearms in a meaningful embrace. The habit had begun as a nervous tick, yet her possessor had come to notice it as a proclamation of suitable intent. The gesture meant she was expecting pain, like the responses from a trained circus animal at the sound of a whip or roaring crowd. Mere moments ago, before they were expected to entertain a trio of guests, Andii (as she now called herself) and her nameless concubine were preparing to bathe.

Andii was no fool. She could tell the names and faces of two of the men before her. In fact, they were both within her top five people she never wanted to meet again behind her brothers and that.. magician who she once worked under so many years ago in a false kingdom. Cedric was no threat to her if her information network was to be believed and the king is supposed to be crippled heavily. Which explains his presence here... ..She expected him years ago, where she had planned on skinning his little pet Seraph alive as he watched, defile her, and bludgeon him to near-paste as he was unable to contest her strength in his weakened state, then demolish his will and take him as her possessed. That was years ago, and she was no longer in any shape to fight.

The injuries she sustained against her brother still had not healed, despite her constant use of the Coeuran miracle cure-all remedy. After everything, nothing could cure having one's magical circuits ripped from their body strings being torn apart. Now, her only magical power came from the pure reservoir in her body, allowing just the smallest amount necessary to keep up her possession on the Seraph.

Within her hut, a pair of large golden gauntlets now collected--

"Yes, yes" spoke the voice of the tanned stranger, the one with the Outcast tattoos.

The priest careened his head to the side, peering at her with one eye from the side. His glance sent something more violent than shivers down her spine, enough to steal her focus away from her belonging and--

He looked away, the pressure vanishing. A splashing noise to her right found its way through her thoughts, where she noticed her attendant furiously rubbing her forearms in the invisible cold. She reached out with her good hand to quiet her pet.

"Yes.. yes!" the godlike man repeated himself as he gauged the lifeforms before him. Lifeforms; forms of life. Entities of existence and consciousness or.. Allowed pursuit of life itself.. ..? ..

"Connections indeed" and peered into the eyes of Cedric Vael. Where he desired striking competence, he found it in a strange.. muddled manner. Not a waste, but a poorly channeled life. Ignoring the demands of the King of Sanc, the outcast bishop kept his focus on Vael. He rose his hands, curling them into gentle fists, and placing them head on against each other. His left fist twisted upward and his right fist twisted downward until both were angled with the palm openings up and down instead of horizontally.

"My name is Cognizance; I welcome you to our miraculous encounter, my lords. At your behest, I will give you allowance to continue living in Ire. Your body, of course, included."

The priest flickered another look at the women behind him. Were either of them, he mused, worth including in today's chores..? One was, yes. The other was sad and broken and animal. As if clicking a mental check list, he allowed himself to turn to the king once more. He offered the same strange monk-like gesture, but twisting his hands the opposite way. "King of Eventualities, I implore you, heed me. Sanc is under assault from the sea, a mass of foreigners now claim your city and creeping hands reach towards another. The people, whose voices cried for your head, now cry for your hands to lift them from worry. At the head of the light that now shines within Sanc is a figure of blistering light. One that shines with such brilliance, even the Militant King of Steppes would acknowledge it as equal to his devolution."

"Make haste, or make plans, good king. Your time is long as it is short."

Post by Zechs Thu Jun 13, 2019 7:52 am

The news hit Zechs swiftly and hard, his subtly shifting expression maintaining its reticent view by the pillars of doubt that emerged from his initial conclusions, and though the urgency kept his mind racing in uncertainty, it hadn't deterred his outward poise, giving a slight bow with the steadiness one in his position could manage.

“Cognizance,” He spoke, his voice carrying its same coarse and cold tone. “If what you say is true, then you have my gratitude for your informance.” His fists tightened their clutch, the conflict in his situation biting at his patience, the more the thought sat in his mind, the further his demeanor shifted in accordance.
The last words of the priest wrapped around him like a snake, any movement he could take would be wrong, if any of this was true to begin with, though the offer by the same man held a light to his situation, yet once more his caution shielded his judgement.

“A calm mind won't regret his steps later down the line..”He assured himself, a sigh escaping him after a momentary silence, the singe of his scar helping keep the scene in focus.
“Forgive me for doubting your actions being a one-sided generosity, Cognizance, but I must wonder ahead of time what you seek from me, given your sudden arrival, and knowledge.” His tone held, rigid but a genuine intrigue.

Cedric couldn't keep the surprise off of his face. Cognizance had just voiced one of the many fears the pair had chewed on before setting out. Though, what was expected from the Seraph was more leaned to a coup. Brow furrowing, he took a hesitant step forward.

"Sudden arrival indeed... How did you know where to find us, as well?"

Granted, it was stupid of him to ask something so callous. The worry was there, though, as the pair had made painstaking reaches to ensure no following. What worried him even more, however, was how easily the monk had cowed the pair of women behind him. Sure the waves of power emanating from him would leave even the Seraph swallowing nervously, but something struck him oddly about the circumstances.

So much for a cure... The thought came with a nervous look at his king, who stood straight and tall against the adversity holding his kingdom.
